Data editor

Data editor

Data editor is a tool for comparison, editing and merging of historical data from up to three different sources.

Description of controls:

  1. Button for opening a dialog with setting of an output directory and a data format.
  2. Dropdown menu containing list of all stocks (CSV files) that were found in the directory of the source “A”.
  3. Output data (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, Close Ratio). These data will be saved to the entered output directory upon program termination or jump to another stock. Filename is equal to the stock symbol; file format is CSV.
  4. Group of columns containing data of source “A” (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, Close Ratio)
  5. Group of columns containing data of source “B” (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, Close Ratio)
  6. Group of columns containing data of source “C” (Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, Close Ratio)
  7. OHLC Chart, which provides a course of all three data sources (blue, green, black) for visual comparison and also resulting data (red)
    Using a double-click wherever within the chart surface will enable you to find a corresponding date in the main table.
  8. Table of unusually high changes in Close price. In this table there are all days listed, in which price change compared to the previous day exceeded 20%.
    Click at the value Close ration to lookup a corresponding date in the main table.
  9. Action buttons
    • Use selected cells - will copy selected source cells to the output (without any modifications)
    • Adapt selected cells - will modify selected source cells and transfer them to the output.
    • Use selected source - will copy all source cells to the output (without any modifications)
    • Adapt selected source - will modify selected source cells and transfer them to the output.
    • Use cells below - will select all cells from the selected line downwards and will transfer them to the output (without any modifications)
    • Adapt cells below - will select all cells from the selected line downwards, modify them and transfer them to the output

    Note: Modification of the cell means multiplication/division of a cell value and/or addition of a constant. Dialog for entry of modification coefficients:

Close ratio

Column “Output Close ratio” contains ratio between the Close price and yesterday. The ratio is always higher than 1 to allow easily find jumps or defects in data.
