Data import - files with individual stocks data

1) Selection of imported files

Click on the button “Select files” will open a dialog box for selection of imported files.

Mark all files that you require to be imported to the database and click OK.

Warning: Filename must be the same as the stock symbol! Any file extension can be used.

For example, stock called “AAPL” must be saved in file “AAPL.csv”, “AAPL.txt”, “AAPL.dat”, etc.

2) File format

A symbol that is to be used in the files to separate individual columns (values) is defined in the field “Columns separator”.

Enter the order of individual columns into the fields “Order of column with ...”.

If the checkbox “There is a header at the first line of the file” is ticked, the first line of the file will be skipped.

Preview of the first imported file is available in the text window. The preview can be used to have a better understanding of and orientation in the file format.

Individual columns data are shown in the lower part of the table. The columns are highlighted graphically in accordance with the values of “Order of column with...”.

3) Format of data

Local settings of data provider - using the drop-down-menu select an area, from where the data source is originated - usually “English” (United States)”. The settings define a language, in which the date is saved.

Date format - defines date format

Insert the relevant separators to the fields “Decimal Separator” and “Thousands Separator”.

Field “Multiplier of Trade Volumes” is used in a case, when the trade volume is saved for example in thousands (then the multiplier will be set as 1000) or millions (then the multiplier will be set as 1000000).

The first table contains source data that are uploaded from the relevant columns (see above) of the file.

In the second table, there are data that will be saved to the database.

By clicking on the button “Finish” data import to the database will be commenced.

Data import status

Information on the data import status is provided by a green bar in the header of the tab “Database”. Note: Information bar is not updated, if the mouse cursor is located above the chart.
